Read more Our story Over 140 years of innovation in every lens 1980: Serengeti the Spectral Control filter lens. 1982: Serengeti was officially born. 1985: Introduction of the Serengeti Drivers lens. Serengeti - Sport sunglasses collection How you view the world says everything. Which explains why Serengeti has been committed to developing the world’s most advanced sunglass lens technology for over 45 years. Then again, innovation has always been inherent in our DNA. We believe that technically-enhanced vision helps you focus on what truly matters. With that, achieving perfect clarity is not the end game— but rather, the start. Read more Technologies PHOTOCHROMIC TECHNOLOGY Whether crossing sun-scorched desert valleys or winding mountain roads, Serengeti lenses perfectly adapt to changing light conditions. As the pioneer of Photochromic technology, Serengeti leads the industry in creating lenses that adapt to any light condition in any setting. Darkening in bright sunlight and lightening in overcast conditions, Photochromic technology allows your eyes to adapt to any light, in any weather. The result is a view of the world so crystal clear, you’ll notice natural beauty you’ve never seen before. SPECTRAL CONTROL TECHNOLOGY Serengeti Spectral Control technology fine-tunes the light waves passing through the lens, for a highly reduced blue light transmission, naturally enhanced detail and colors that pop, crisp and clear. Our Spectral Control technology manages light wavelengths to give better saturation of what we need to see. Much like an audio equalizer filters sound frequency, our lens fine tunes and filters shortwave blue light, allowing more red, green, and yellow to pass through. Landscapes that would be washed out, dull, or flat with other lenses become defined, vibrant, and vivid, while your eyes remain cool and relaxed. PHD 2.0 LENS TECHNOLOGY Each lens is built with NXT technology and made from Trivex material designed to withstand impacts and temperature changes. Lighter than polycarbonate, PhD 2.0 lenses offer higher optical clarity and the perfect balance of visual and physical performance. The PhD 2.0 features hydro- and oleophobic front-side coatings, which help repel water, fingerprints and debris. The highly durable backside anti-fog treatment enables perfect vision and performance whatever the activity. Bought these here heavily discounted. If you are a fan of very light sunglasses, you will enjoy these. I did NOT encounter the problem noted by others here - that being the lens being "sticky", but I have not tried to clean them yet. I DID encounter a problem with the fit though. The nose piece is so wide that the glass fits extremely close to the eyes. Some would find this uncomfortable. The nose piece, best I can tell w/o breaking it, is not adjustable. The photochromic lense makes this a fair value at $100.I do really like the clarity you get while using these lenses. They are a much lighter tint than the Costa’s I currently use, but they are much easier on the eyes. They main problem I have with my particular pair of glasses is that they seem to have a sticky like feel over the entire inside of each lense. I’m not sure if this is normal of this particular type of lense being as it is a plastic lense. It does make it difficult to clean with this cloth that comes with the glasses. It leaves behind tiny microscopic lint fibers you can barely see. I’m not certain if this is a foreign substance because it is evenly distributed on both lenses and you can’t see any type of residue. Unfortunately I will have to return these. This is my second pair of Serengheti Sunglasses. The transition lenses are great and I will definitely purchase another pair when I wear this one out. The only issue I have with this model is the fit, as the nose piece is not adjustable and the bottom of the glasses sits on my face. That bothers me most in the summer since it results in sunscreen getting on the lenses, which is never a good thing. If you can, check for fit before buying and you will be very happy with the glasses. The other issue, which is independent of the glasses is the case they come with. After having it in my backpack for the last three months, the sipper on the case is showing signs that it will fail soon and I have to be more careful when closing it now or the zipper teeth no longer hold together. Despite that, I have been recommending the glasses to family and friends. Can't beat the eye strain relief these glasses give you while driving! These are for someone with a wide nose. As purchased, my eye lashes hit the lense. I have been adjusting them ever since. Be aware, if you have a narrow nose, they will be super close to your eyes and need major adjustmentIf your Serengeti glasses don’t come with a hard case, cleaning cloth from Serengeti, proper Serengeti logo on glasses which is a “s” in the left lens top corner and if they say made in Japan chances are they are knock offs! I have bought many pairs over the years direct from bushnell or they will give you a list of legit dealers, but all my pairs say made in Italy have proper logos, cleaning cloths and hard cases, and I have never paid less than $280.00 a pair just to give you a heads up! After all these are supposed to be some of the best glasses in the world and they are not cheap! The real Serengeti’s with photichromatic lenses will change either darker or lighter according to the setting of light! Put your finger on the lense for fifteen seconds in direct sunlight, then remove finger if you can not see a change in the lens they are knock offs. If you can’t see clearly with polarized options in water like 10 to fifteen feet in deep water and to the bottom of shallow waters then they probably are knock offs. I’m not an expert but I have about 15 pairs and they all react the same when they are genuine, and I never paid $100 for any pairs, that I can assure you. Good luck with these I hope your not getting knock offs.I Love how these Sunglasses contoured to my face.Every sun glass store i go to don’t have the perfect fit i was looking for and just by looking at these i knew they would be the perfect fit.Thank you i highly recommend Serengeti Sunglasses.Tuvieron el cuidado de enviarlo bien empacado, debido a que fue solicitado para otro país. Muchas gracias por envirlo en un buen estuche y caja fuerte.Super light weight, stylish. They work well for driving, but they are -NOT- gradient lenses. The Amazon ad is not at fault; the product literature provided also claims they are gradient. Well, my Serengeti Aviator style -ARE- gradient, and this ain't that, if you know what I mean. They are photochromic, and polarized, as noted in the ad. The polarized feature was new to me, so I'm still getting used to it, but it is exactly as advertised. So, very nice sunglasses, just be aware of the gradient issue.Update. After a year of careful wear, the lenses are delaminating. I have original aviator style Drivers that are over 20 years old that I still wear that are in better condition.Very disappointed.Update: The delamination continues. These glasses are a huge disappointment. I have two pair of original Serengeti Drivers in the Aviator frames, and I still wear them. Why? Because these suck in comparison. No gradient lenses. Plastic lenses are deteriorating. I still have a pair of sunglasses I bought in 1978, and they are in better condition than these, which are a few years old. Never again. I was dubious when I pulled these out for the first time. They seemed flimsy and insubstantial. Having worn them for a few weeks, I can honestly say that I was impressed with the fit, the photochromic lenses and the durability, considering they comprise little more that lenses, a nosepiece and thin earpieces. A close look will reveal that the construction is first rate. At the price I paid (about 115$C) they are a bargain. Super comfortable to boot.
