He liked them very much ,wear mauis all the timeI purchased these in July of 2014. I paid $189 for the black frame/netural gray Glass lenses. They have held up very well. No scratches, and the temple springs are as good as they were when new. I take good care of them, keeping them in their case when not in use, and clean them regularly using a bit of dish soap. I love the clarity and weight of the glass lenses, as they are superior to any of the composite lenses I've had a chance to compare them to, including their own brand's plastic lenses. (I spent some time in a Bass Pro Shop comparing these to Costas, Smiths, and Oakleys)These are my everyday casual and business wear glasses. These are great for driving; the polarization on these lenses is superior to Oakley in my opinion, and I love how well the polarizing lenses cut glare. These also work fantastic for cutting glare on watery surfaces like lakes and rivers, but honestly I am too fearful of losing these in the water to wear them near it!I would not wear these for any activity requiring a lot of movement, such as playing sports, since they are heavy, and because most of the weight is in the lenses, they are likely to fall off. During every day use though, these are secure enough that them falling off your head is a non-issue (unless you try to "store" them on the top of your head when not in use - DON'T do that!).My only grip with these is that after wearing them continuously for more than an hour, they do become a bit uncomfortable on the bridge of my nose.. taking them off for a brief period helps with any discomfort, but this is the sacrifice I'm willing to make to wear glass lenses.I will admit I keep a pair of Oakley flak jackets around for outdoor activities, and for times when I worry about scratching the lens (such as bumming on the beach). However, the quality of these are fantastic and I am glad I purchased them... I will buy another when the time comes.Couple of tips:- In my opinion, I would NOT suggest purchasing these glasses in a composite lens... the glass lenses are so much clearer. In my opinion, these frames are designed to hold a heavy glass lens in place. I would prefer to purchase a composite lens in a "frameless" or "semi-frameless" option to take advantage of the lighter weight of the composite lenses, and the ability to swap lenses on some brands of frames.- The shiny black frame, on the inside of the frame actually reflects light at some angles, and can be distracting. Wearing a hat eliminates this completely, but if you're looking for a frame that completely blocks the sun due to the way it wraps and fits your face, this probably isn't going to be sufficient.I have the black frames with the bronze lenses. These things have great optics and sometimes even make things look cooler than without the sunglasses. For example I recently went down to St Pete, FL and personally found the scenery to be even more colorful and vibrant in bright sunlight. When looking at the clouds I could see every ridge and bump whereas without them they looked much flatter. They make a difference with water as well, when strolling along a pier there were times I could track the silhouettes of dolphins near the surface much better than I could without the glasses.I'm not trying to say these will give you super-human visibility or even that these benefits are universal, just that the optics are excellent and in some scenarios certainly assisted my vision. As far as protection from the sun, they do great. Though there are times when it's extremely bright and I feel I could use a bit more darkness. For that purpose you might want to have another pair of sunglasses, but 98% of the time these work great.I'll also note that when dealing with high wind or fast movement, these don't keep the air out too well. So if that is a concern for you you may want to look into some sort of fitness-geared glasses that are designed to provide that sort of protection. Those issues aside, if these match what you're looking for I'd definitely recommend them if you can afford to foot the bill. They are definitely spendy for sunglasses, it's up to you to decide if they're worth it.---Update - Jun 24, 2017I dropped my original pair into the river last summer unfortunately. Missed them so much I ordered another pair the next day, along with a floaty. Lesson learned. Still love these and would recommend them!Second pair. Great Sunglasses.Tastes vary so much it's hard to recommend for another. However, they were exactly what I was looking for to protect my eyes on the water (reflections off the ocean) and also when playing volleyball (looking into the sun).Update: Just bought a new pair, probably my 4th pair of Stingrays and my 5th or 6th overall from Maui Jim. One of the reasons that they last so long is because the case protects them well. Or rather, the old style case protected them well. Just received the new pair and MJ has really cheapened the cases. The new case style seems to be made of some kind of plasticized cardboard which feels pretty destructible. Not sure how long the case is going to last and I'm sure that the protection for the sunglasses isn't what it used to be. The only redeeming factor is that when the glasses are removed from the case, it folds flat which is a little handy but I would take one of the old cases over three of the new cases. Seems like MJ is trying to save money on the cases and also provide less protection to the sunglasses so you have to replace them more often. Due to the poor quality of the new case, I dropped my rating from 5 stars to 4 stars. 3 stars seemed too low but if there was an option for 3.5 stars, I would have gone with that.I've been wearing Maui Jim's for years. Perhaps a little on the $ side, bit worth every cent!Good sunglasses but terrible case.Buy elsewhere (retail, mall, etc) and get the legit case.I love my Maui Jim sunglasses. This is probably my third pair because I somehow keep destroying them. I crushed the last pair, that were in my coat breast pocket, while trying to rescue an injured Red-Tailed Hawk. The Stingray model is great at blocking the sun. They are very light weight. My wife likes the way they look on me (and so do I). I'm happy to give a 5 Star review but I have no idea why the review questions pertain to a shoe. The sunglasses have no "toe box", the "width" fits my face, but they provide no "arch support" of any kind. This is my second pair of Maui Jim's. You really cannot go wrong for best lenses. These fits me great and offers full protection . The lenses are the thin glass which offers best clear vision. I am also happy that these are Genuine Maui Jim and come nicely pack in their original case/box. Quality on these are superb and great for the beach specially when windy these protects in getting sand in your eyes. The seller was superb in their communication and getting my glasses to me very quickly. Will buy again.Just the best ,superior design , look and qualityMy husband bought these for me and I love them it's true you get what you pay forSunglasses arrived in good time and were well packed. They are very well made, are a lovely fit and the bronze lenses make the world look a lot more cheerful place. I have other well known brands and prefer these . Strongly recommended.2nd pair, brilliant!
